2024 Santy Cup Recap

Team Solids, led by Captain Cody Wacker, traveled to French Lick with high hopes and delivered a stunning performance. They captured victory decisively, completing a clean sweep in the Ryder Cup against Team Stripes, who were guided by Captain Stock. Team Solids set the tone from the start, dominating the opening day by securing 5 out of 6 points. On Day 2, the competition tightened as the teams split the points evenly at 3-3, leaving Team Solids with an 8-4 lead going into the final day.
Day 3 began with intense Shamble/Scramble matches, many of which were closely contested and came down to the last few holes. Team Solids edged out their opponents with a 3.5-2.5 win in the morning session, extending their lead to 11.5-6.5 before the Saturday Singles matches. With 12 points still available, Team Stripes aimed for an upset, and their strong performance in the first four singles matches—where they secured 3.5 points—narrowed the gap to 12-10. Despite their best efforts to turn the tide, Team Stripes fell short of the points needed for a comeback. The final score settled at 16.5-13.5 in favor of Team Solids.

The 2024 Santy Cup Individual Tournament saw Jesse Rhodebeck dominate wire-to-wire for a commanding victory. Despite valiant efforts from Ben Rader and Will Nodo, Jesse’s exceptional performance off the tee and on the greens proved insurmountable. His stellar play earned him a 5-shot win on what was the most challenging course the Santy Cup has ever hosted. Jesse’s consistency throughout the week, including having one of the fewest bogeys over 54 holes, was crucial to his success. He effectively kept the big numbers off his scorecard.
In Round 1, Jesse set the pace with a net -1, being the only player to finish under par. By the end of Round 2, he had built a 5-shot lead over Rader and Nodo. Although his lead narrowed slightly in Round 3, there was never any doubt that Jesse would be taking home the Bendelow Green Jacket. Precision off the tee, particularly on the demanding Dye Course at French Lick, was key, and Jesse’s combination of distance and accuracy, along with a hot putter, led him to victory. He now joins the illustrious ranks of Santy Cup Champions. Congratulations to Jesse on his outstanding performance at French Lick!
