2020 Santy Cup Recap

The inaugural Santy Cup was everything it was supposed to be and more. Great camaraderie, lots of beers, many laughs, amazing tacos (thanks Starkey), and a few birdies along the way. Jordan Higgins became the first ever Santy Cup Champion. Jordan fought through the adverse conditions on Sunday to pull out the come from behind victory and win by 2 shots. Congrats to Jordan on his hard fought win!

As far as the team competition goes, it was as competitive as a Ryder Cup could be. With the score tied 3-3 heading into Sunday's singles matches you knew the tension would be high. Some may say it was over before it even started on Sunday, as Team Higgins was on the range grinding, while Team Fante was still asleep. Sunday provided fireworks, nonetheless.
Saturday evening the pairings were made. Team Fante fans have been very critical of Leo Fante's decision making, as he blacked out for a second, and couldn't remember the matchups he wanted to create. That decision seemed costly for Team Fante. Matt Starkey (Team Higgins) and Nick Stock (Team Fante) were first off on Sunday morning. This turned out to be a match that will live forever in Santy Cup history. It was an unbelievable match! Matt Starkey made a slider on the 17th hole to go 1 up. With Team Higgins already having 3 wins on the board Sunday, Starkey's putt on the 17th hole clinched the Ryder Cup victory for Team Higgins! Congrats to Team Higgins members Jordan Higgins (captain), Matt Starkey, Taylor Bockrath, Cody Wacker, Will Nodo, and Craig Hyson!
